{ Team Fleuriste Spotlight } Taylor

Taylor came to work for us after Jake won her over in a local cable access version of The Bachelorette. We’re still wondering…..

When she’s not off learning nurse-ish type things, she is here helping to keep the show running on the floral side. Taylor does a lot of our processing when we receive flowers and is trying her hand in designing. She has quickly become a valuable part of the team and if we can convince her to leave nursing to work here forever, we’d all be very happy. We recently had an impromptu conversation in which she was unaware I was recording, the following is what is appropriate to share:

Taylor what is your favorite flower to work with?
T: I love peonies and garden roses. I love how peonies add something to every arrangement, and I had never seen garden roses before and I fell in love with them!

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work and when you’re avoiding Jake?
T: I like reading and running and yoga { Note to self: don’t attempt these three activities at the same time. It doesn’t work }

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
T: Neon Trees! I saw them at the Brady in Tulsa. They’re not my favorite band, but they put on an amazing show!

{ Team Fleuriste Spotlight } Marckell

You may have witnessed his stealthy ways during event setup and asked yourself, I wonder who that man of mystery is and how does he so gracefully rock those curly frocks? Today the mystery is solved.  Introducing, Marckell, Fleuriste floral crew member and our lead mover and shaker. He’s always ready and willing to help out, and we dig that about him.

Marckell operates relatively “low pro” but when least expected he’ll interject something and create pure 24 karat magic (in the air). He’s big into his video games, Adidas track suits, and his girlfriend. Beyond that, you’re gonna have to give him a shot of Crown to find out for yourself.

What is the coolest thing you’ve learned to do at The Fleuriste?

-I like processing the flowers and the arrangements, and seeing all the production that gets done.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

-Quiet (ya, we covered that already), Responsible, and Loyal (this guy is a catch!)

What’s an ideal date night for you and the lady?

-watching a bunch of classic movies like the Star Wars trilogy or the Alien movies. My girlfriend is a movie person so that’s really our thing to do

{ Team Fleuriste spotlight } kristin

Kristin joins #teamfleuriste this year after a brief stint as a stay at home mom to her baby girl, Parker. While she loved that job, she finds that having conversations with grown people who can communicate with words to be quite fulfilling as well. And since she is me, here’s a little bit about myself!

First, and most importantly, my tiny human is the best thing in the whole world. I’m obsessed with her on what is likely an unhealthy level. I plan on being her college roommate. And her maid of honor in her wedding. { The Fleuriste will do the flowers, obvi }

I love all types of music except country. Can’t do it. Won’t do it. Don’t ask me again.

I’m a vodka martini girl….served up, extra EXTRA shaken, and just a skosh dirty. Blue cheese stuffed olives, if you got ‘em…and I hope you do.

When Harry Met Sally is the greatest movie ever made and if you disagree with me I will fight you in an alley.

I really was Show Choir President and was voted Funniest Girl in 8th grade. Those are my two claims to fame so I am basically killing it in life.

I knew that this was the place I was meant to be at when my first three interview questions involved puppies at the office, swearing at the office, and the occasional happy hour at the office.

{ Feature Friday } Katy!

Today we’re featuring our newest employee, Katy! She is our Numbers Nanny and helps { well…tries to help… } keep Team Fleuriste organized and accounted for. Recently engaged, Katy is our first in-house bride and is enjoying seeing the behind-the-scenes of the wedding process. We are grooming her to be the best bride/client anyone has ever seen! { You’re welcome }

This gal bleeds orange, knows her way around a broom and loves a good Sal story. In between crunching numbers, Katy likes to make sure our mascot/shop dog, Nia, is behaving and gets plenty of love. Allegedly, she’s a great baker but since Team Fleuriste hasn’t seen the fruits of that labor, we’ll just have to take her friend’s word for it! { hint, hint } In her own words, here is more about Katy…
How long have you been at The Fleuriste and what excites you about working at The Fleuriste? I have been at the Fleuriste for two months! The team-oriented atmosphere and the passion that everyone has for their job is what excites me the most about my new role at the Fleuriste. It’s great coming to work each day and being around a fun and enthusiastic group of people.

Which three famous people, living or dead, would you want to have dinner with? Justin Timberlake, Ellen Degeneres, and Kerry Washington. This group would definitely not be a boring group and lots of endless laughs.

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t working? Hanging out with family and friends. I also love to attend OSU football games because I love everything OSU!

There’s a fire in your house – what three things do you take with you when you leave? Cell phone-of course, jewelry box, and my favorite purse.

You’re on the red carpet of a major event – which designer are you wearing? I would have loved to wear an Oscar de la Renta gown.

You’re #TeamFleuriste’s “Numbers Nanny” – what does that mean to you? I want to be the numbers expert and be able to help the team with any of their number’s needs and/or questions.

What is your favorite flower? Bird’s of Paradise

Challenge Accepted

I’m sure by now you’ve heard all about the latest internet sensation…the Mannequin Challenge. While prepping for Flower School last week, Team Fleuriste had some fun and got in on the mannequin action! { I have a feeling the whole world will participate in this challenge when everyone is sitting in a turkey coma on Thanksgiving day }

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes

Today’s Field Trip Friday could be my favorite so far because hello, cake samples! The team from Amy Cakes and the team from The Fleuriste have worked together on some pretty incredible weddings so I had to check them out, outside of event day, and get a behind-the-scenes look at their operation!
{ Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes   { Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes   { Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes
Amy, also known as “Cake Mom” of Amy Cakes, has been in business since 2004. Her passion for sweets started in the bakery section of Albertson’s when she was 19. {But even before that? She worked with flowers for four years! No wonder our businesses get along so well.} As the business has grown, so have the cakes. I’ll never forget the six foot cake at the #LeaveItToBeavers wedding this summer! The base was 30” wide and fed 500 people! It was a total showstopper.

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy CakesI had to ask my favorite #FieldTripFriday question: “What is the biggest diva moment you’ve had with a bride?” Amy’s take is…brides are delightful but the mother of the bride can be a different story. After all, moms envision a daughter’s wedding as soon as she is  born, so passion can get the best of them! {I just had a daughter and can totally attest to the accuracy of this statement…sorry future wedding vendors…}

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy CakesI giggled at the notion of Amy Cakes‘ team not having a favorite flavor. Undeniably, they agree their cake is best; but apparently, you really can have too much of a good thing. {all sweets addicts are recoiling in horror right now} Creating 70 wedding cakes in May and June alone might make me feel the same way! Just kidding…I would totally love every sugary bite.

{ Feature Friday } Jason

Today we’re meeting the other half of the JJ’s…Jason! Much like Jake, Jason is new and already fitting right in. He has a quiet way about him but a very dry sense of humor that keeps all of us on our toes! Experienced in woodworking and lighting installations, I know our team is excited to capitalize on these talents. In his own words, here is a little bit about Jason…

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? Playing fort with my daughter and son and working on the many ongoing projects around the house.

As a new member of Team Fleuriste, what part of working at The Fleuriste do you enjoy the most (so far)? Collaborating on new and innovative projects with the creative group that is the Team Fleuriste. { Side note: I feel like I’m on Family Feud with this response but, “Good answer! Good answer!” }

Who is your favorite superhero? Superman! I’ve always admired his gall to wear his undies on the outside of his pants. { Side note: that’s a really good point. One of life’s mysteries like Donald Duck not wearing pants but putting a towel on after the shower… }

What is your favorite restaurant in OKC? Fuzzy’s Tacos. Their tacos are always so juicy.

Are you a morning person or a night person? When I’m awake, I’m awake, whether it be early in the morning or late at night.

What is your favorite flower? Tulips { Side note: Jason is going to love working in the spring with us! }

{ Feature Friday } Jake

Today I’m excited to introduce you to one of the newest members of Team Fleuriste, Jake! He is half of our Jason and Jake production team { or as they have become known around here, the JJs } and brings the perfect amount of sarcasm to complete our crew. A little sassy and a whole lot of crafty are two very important skills needed to be a successful member of our team and he is fitting in just fine so far! In his own words, here is more about Jake…

Jake | The Fleuriste

Do you have any pets? I have a 4 month old Australian Shepherd named Teddy { side note: looks like Jake needs to bring his puppy in to play with our newest puppy team member, Nia! }

What is your favorite movie? The Outsiders { side note: did you see they’re working on preserving the house used in the movie? Its based in Tulsa and looks very cool. }

What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to be a doctor

If you were competing in the Olympics, in which sport would you participate? Track

What is your favorite part of The Fleuriste? My favorite part so far is the team and how everyone works together. { side note: Jake totally gets bonus/brownie points for this answer! }

What is your favorite flower? Tiger Lily

Cue the Confetti

Today’s bride is a girl after my own heart. With a passion for Kate Spade and all things chic, Taylor was a match made for me! { and lets be honest, she was a match made for Team Fleuriste since Kate Spade is one of our favorite design divas } Black and white stripes never go out of style and when you mix that with gold confetti? Hello, soulmate!

Taylor and Jason | The FleuristeTaylor and Jason | The FleuristeTaylor and Jason | The Fleuriste

Our uber-creative design team came up with not only one, but two fabulous alternatives for the ring bearer and flower girl.  Blossom bag in tote, the on-trend flower girl was paired perfectly down the aisle with the dapper ring bearer.
