{ Team Fleuriste Spotlight } Taylor

Taylor came to work for us after Jake won her over in a local cable access version of The Bachelorette. We’re still wondering…..

When she’s not off learning nurse-ish type things, she is here helping to keep the show running on the floral side. Taylor does a lot of our processing when we receive flowers and is trying her hand in designing. She has quickly become a valuable part of the team and if we can convince her to leave nursing to work here forever, we’d all be very happy. We recently had an impromptu conversation in which she was unaware I was recording, the following is what is appropriate to share:

Taylor what is your favorite flower to work with?
T: I love peonies and garden roses. I love how peonies add something to every arrangement, and I had never seen garden roses before and I fell in love with them!

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work and when you’re avoiding Jake?
T: I like reading and running and yoga { Note to self: don’t attempt these three activities at the same time. It doesn’t work }

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
T: Neon Trees! I saw them at the Brady in Tulsa. They’re not my favorite band, but they put on an amazing show!

{ Team Fleuriste Spotlight } Marckell

You may have witnessed his stealthy ways during event setup and asked yourself, I wonder who that man of mystery is and how does he so gracefully rock those curly frocks? Today the mystery is solved.  Introducing, Marckell, Fleuriste floral crew member and our lead mover and shaker. He’s always ready and willing to help out, and we dig that about him.

Marckell operates relatively “low pro” but when least expected he’ll interject something and create pure 24 karat magic (in the air). He’s big into his video games, Adidas track suits, and his girlfriend. Beyond that, you’re gonna have to give him a shot of Crown to find out for yourself.

What is the coolest thing you’ve learned to do at The Fleuriste?

-I like processing the flowers and the arrangements, and seeing all the production that gets done.

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

-Quiet (ya, we covered that already), Responsible, and Loyal (this guy is a catch!)

What’s an ideal date night for you and the lady?

-watching a bunch of classic movies like the Star Wars trilogy or the Alien movies. My girlfriend is a movie person so that’s really our thing to do

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes

Today’s Field Trip Friday could be my favorite so far because hello, cake samples! The team from Amy Cakes and the team from The Fleuriste have worked together on some pretty incredible weddings so I had to check them out, outside of event day, and get a behind-the-scenes look at their operation!
{ Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes   { Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes   { Field Trip Friday } Amy Cakes
Amy, also known as “Cake Mom” of Amy Cakes, has been in business since 2004. Her passion for sweets started in the bakery section of Albertson’s when she was 19. {But even before that? She worked with flowers for four years! No wonder our businesses get along so well.} As the business has grown, so have the cakes. I’ll never forget the six foot cake at the #LeaveItToBeavers wedding this summer! The base was 30” wide and fed 500 people! It was a total showstopper.

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy CakesI had to ask my favorite #FieldTripFriday question: “What is the biggest diva moment you’ve had with a bride?” Amy’s take is…brides are delightful but the mother of the bride can be a different story. After all, moms envision a daughter’s wedding as soon as she is  born, so passion can get the best of them! {I just had a daughter and can totally attest to the accuracy of this statement…sorry future wedding vendors…}

{ Field Trip Friday } Amy CakesI giggled at the notion of Amy Cakes‘ team not having a favorite flavor. Undeniably, they agree their cake is best; but apparently, you really can have too much of a good thing. {all sweets addicts are recoiling in horror right now} Creating 70 wedding cakes in May and June alone might make me feel the same way! Just kidding…I would totally love every sugary bite.

Once Upon A Time…

…there was a teenage girl who dreamed about her wedding. Today’s bride, Nishay, planned her ‘Happily Ever After’ when she was only 15 years old and brought the proof { what we’ll now refer to as THE binder } to our first consultation. This fairytale wedding included not only one modern princess and her prince charming, but also our favorites: lush flowers and dreamy details.

Nishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste

Nishay’s passion for posh blooms was evident by the large section of THE binder devoted just to flowers. All of spring’s best were needed to create this storybook wedding. { peonies, sweat pea, hydrangea, garden roses and ranunculus…just to name a few } Based on Nishay’s reaction upon entering the ballroom, #TeamFleuriste nailed it!

Nishay & Anthony | The FleuristeNishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste -2Nishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste -8

Romantic floral designs spilling from silver vessels in shades of blush, ivory and champagne accented the room. Cascading flowers topped the delicious five-tiered ivory cake while the sweetest floral crown topped the head of one very special flower girl! { Perhaps Nishay will pass on her love of weddings and we’ll see her flower girl toting her own wedding binder one day? }

Happily Ever After has never looked so happy. Congratulations Nishay & Anthony! To see more of their dream wedding, view the full gallery on our website.

{ Field Trip Friday } OKC Golf & Country Club

Fridays are for fun and what’s a part of Team Fleuriste’s fun? Field Trips! We love an excuse to get away from our desks { especially before a long weekend! } so today we’re getting out of the office and talking to Tracy Johnson, Event Director, at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

Callie & Matthew tracy.johnson014 Callie & Matthew

For the past three years, Tracy has been responsible for overseeing all events at the club including everything from the annual member Christmas party to managing outside vendors during weddings. We can certainly say from experience, Tracy and her team make sure each event is executed perfectly!

Speaking of managing vendors, Team Fleuriste knows that we are Tracy’s favorite { obviously… } but when asked if she could agree with that statement, she diplomatically responded that her motto is “we are all a team so each vendor that comes in is treated like a part of the OKCGCC team to create the perfect event. I am truly enjoying developing friendships with the vendors here in OKC.” We suppose this response makes her job easier when she works with other vendors but we’ll always know the truth!

It goes without saying that planning events is a busy and stressful job. If you’ve ever planned a meeting or a party { or even just tried to get your friends to agree on a date for a lunch }, you know how crazy it can get so we had to know how Tracy does it every day. Her response? “I tell anyone thinking about event planning that you will either love it or hate it, there is no in-between.  If you love it you are crazy (and I love it so I am crazy) but it’s very rewarding.  No matter the event, and we do everything from business meetings to weddings, I want every detail to be perfect and each member and guest to have a great time.  I am so blessed to have an amazing staff here at the club that understands our vision and works to produce it every day.” Well…we love the floral event business so maybe we’re crazy too? No comment.

OKC Golf and Country Club

All of the events hosted at the club are great but one of our favorite times to be there? Christmas! Have you ever seen their 30 foot tree? It is spectacular! Team Fleuriste found out that OKCGCC has a farmer in Colorado who they use specifically for their Christmas trees. The pre-selected tree arrives at 6:30 a.m., the Sunday after the Beaux Arts Ball, and the next two days are spent decorating it. If you haven’t seen this gorgeous sight for yourself, make it a priority this December!

Thank you Tracy and the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for letting Team Fleuriste show you off today. We’re eagerly awaiting the end of the day so we can finish the week like Tracy does…by kicking off the heels and having a glass of wine. Cheers!

Gold and navy are always a classic combo as seen at table number five. Table number eight shows that organic is great { we love a cheesy rhyme } and how pretty is the watercolor calligraphy at table number one? Thanks to Pinterest, the ideas are endless!

{ Field Trip Friday } Judy Lehmbeck

Today we are back with another great industry partner in our Field Trip Friday blog series! We love showing off the people who work behind the scenes to make fabulous events possible and no one is more behind the scenes than today’s guest, planner-extraordinaire, Judy Lehmbeck. Since Fridays are a very busy day in the planner world, we took her out earlier in the week and helped her unwind in her most favorite way: having someone else wait on her while she eats dinner and has a drink!

Judy Lehmbeck | The Fleuriste Judy Lehmbeck | The Fleuriste Judy Lehmbeck | The Fleuriste

Judy’s 25 years of party planning experience could certainly write a book of it’s own.  We’re sure all the special requests, memorable moments and of course, diva episodes would fill the pages with laughter and intrigue. Judy is never one to kiss and tell; however, there was a particularly memorable moment she loved sharing. In New York a few years back, Judy planned a wedding at the Waldorf-Astoria {what a dream!}. The legendary Harlem Gospel Choir serenaded the wedding guests from the ceremony to the reception. {Swoon!}

Judy Lehmbeck | The Fleuriste

Did you know that Judy is a shoe aficionado? It never fails, when you see her, you have to find out where she got her shoes! Her go-to favorites are usually Stuart Weitzman but her latest and greatest find {and what she was wearing when we got together} is Marion Parke’s Bernadette. We hear these great little strappy numbers can be found at Oklahoma City’s very own Ballet’s.

In her “spare” time, Judy loves to travel. She has a long list of locations she has visited and several that she counts as favorites but as she says, “each time I leave a country, it becomes my new favorite.” The South of France currently holds the top spot on her favorite’s list {and left us dreaming of mediterranean sunsets!}.

Judy Lehmbeck | The Fleuriste

Judy’s client list is to-die for and perhaps that’s why we feel so lucky to work with her. Her well-rooted relationships seem to make the planning process a breeze. She continues to wow us with her creativity, drive and passion for the client!

A great big hug and kiss to Judy for sharing her time with us! We’ve gotta go now…we’re off to watch Judy’s new favorite show, “The Catch.” See you next time, friends.

Modern Elegance

Contemporary, sleek, modern and elegant…these are just a few adjectives that accurately describe today’s #WeddingWednesday feature! Morgan and Omar are total trendsetters and it showed in their wedding style. Team Fleuriste loved getting to step up our creative game for this stylish couple!

Morgan & Omar | The Fleuriste

Our friends at Eventures { remember meeting them? } completely transformed Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club with drapery lined walls and set the bar high with their production design so we had to bring it with the floral design!

The head table was a total show-stopper of white phalaenopsis orchids and greenery suspended over a glass tabletop lined with white calla lilies! Acrylic tubing set the frame for this gravity-defying floral design. Lets also take a moment to acknowledge the glam factor that the combination of gold, white and glass/acrylic created! Simply stunning.

Gold tree stumps were used to create the base of the head table as well as the cake table. Amy Cakes did a fantastic job with this one-of-a-kind cake, which we accented with more white phalaenopsis orchids.

The bride’s bouquet was a stunning display of white vanda orchids { vanda orchids are a very rare flower that Team Fleuriste loves to use when given the chance! }. Omar presented the bouquet to Morgan before the ceremony, honoring a tradition of the groom giving his bride one last gift before they marry.

Morgan & Omar | The Fleuriste

The escort card “table” was actually a tree accented with even more white phalaenopsis orchids around the base. The leaves falling from the tree had the guest names and table numbers written on them. Is this incredible or what?! We loved creating it, along with all of the other incredible floral elements, for Morgan and Omar. Of course, we’ve only highlighted a few of those details here so you’ll definitely want to see them all by clicking HERE!

Cheers to Morgan & Omar! Here’s to a lifetime of modern elegance!
