Once Upon A Time…

…there was a teenage girl who dreamed about her wedding. Today’s bride, Nishay, planned her ‘Happily Ever After’ when she was only 15 years old and brought the proof { what we’ll now refer to as THE binder } to our first consultation. This fairytale wedding included not only one modern princess and her prince charming, but also our favorites: lush flowers and dreamy details.

Nishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste

Nishay’s passion for posh blooms was evident by the large section of THE binder devoted just to flowers. All of spring’s best were needed to create this storybook wedding. { peonies, sweat pea, hydrangea, garden roses and ranunculus…just to name a few } Based on Nishay’s reaction upon entering the ballroom, #TeamFleuriste nailed it!

Nishay & Anthony | The FleuristeNishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste -2Nishay & Anthony | The Fleuriste -8

Romantic floral designs spilling from silver vessels in shades of blush, ivory and champagne accented the room. Cascading flowers topped the delicious five-tiered ivory cake while the sweetest floral crown topped the head of one very special flower girl! { Perhaps Nishay will pass on her love of weddings and we’ll see her flower girl toting her own wedding binder one day? }

Happily Ever After has never looked so happy. Congratulations Nishay & Anthony! To see more of their dream wedding, view the full gallery on our website.

{ Feature Friday } Sal!

Today’s feature is The Man.The Myth.The Legend…Sal! There is no better time to start writing from my point of view than the present { Hi, my name is Laura and I write these blogs } and I can’t wait for you to meet my Sal Pal. Back in October when I started working with the team, I quickly dubbed Mr. Salvatore Bovino “Sal Pal” because one, I love a cheesy rhyme and two, it is so true. Once you meet Sal, you get a Pal for life! { But seriously, meet him once and he’ll remember you forever }

A notorious joke teller, this cheerful man is behind the wheel for The Fleuriste driving our van and helping us with any number of odd jobs around the store. He knows every back road in town, the dirt on every family you’ve ever heard of, still uses a flip phone and has a heart of gold! If you really want to get to know Sal, you’ll have to catch him at happy hour. { he prefers Skyy } Otherwise, for the immediate inquiring minds, I’ve asked all of the hard questions below.

Sal | The Fleuriste

How long have you been at The Fleuriste? Just a little over five years

What is your favorite part of your job? I love working with the other members of the team. I also love to deliver flowers to the ladies who are home and see their smiling faces!

What does a typical work day look like? When I first get to work, I’ll see what we have on the calendar for the day and get my instructions. Each day is different, which keeps it interesting for me. { Side note: I love sending Sal on errands for us. He is Team Fleuriste’s best PR because he knows everyone in town! }

What’s your favorite flower? Godetia

What’s your favorite thing to do when you aren’t working? I like to mingle! { Side note: This was seriously his answer and all I got out of him! }

Where did you work before The Fleuriste? Right before coming to The Fleuriste, I worked at Michael’s Florist for eight years to the day. Before that, I was retired but before that, I was in the restaurant business. My late wife and I owned Sissy’s Tea and Luncheon Room in the First National Center. She wouldn’t let me in the kitchen so I worked the front of the restaurant while she was in the back!

Do you have a { clean and short } joke you can share with us? That’s too hard. I don’t have many of those and can’t remember any right now. { Side note: this is the honest truth. Sal’s jokes need adult supervision }

{ Field Trip Friday } OKC Golf & Country Club

Fridays are for fun and what’s a part of Team Fleuriste’s fun? Field Trips! We love an excuse to get away from our desks { especially before a long weekend! } so today we’re getting out of the office and talking to Tracy Johnson, Event Director, at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

Callie & Matthew tracy.johnson014 Callie & Matthew

For the past three years, Tracy has been responsible for overseeing all events at the club including everything from the annual member Christmas party to managing outside vendors during weddings. We can certainly say from experience, Tracy and her team make sure each event is executed perfectly!

Speaking of managing vendors, Team Fleuriste knows that we are Tracy’s favorite { obviously… } but when asked if she could agree with that statement, she diplomatically responded that her motto is “we are all a team so each vendor that comes in is treated like a part of the OKCGCC team to create the perfect event. I am truly enjoying developing friendships with the vendors here in OKC.” We suppose this response makes her job easier when she works with other vendors but we’ll always know the truth!

It goes without saying that planning events is a busy and stressful job. If you’ve ever planned a meeting or a party { or even just tried to get your friends to agree on a date for a lunch }, you know how crazy it can get so we had to know how Tracy does it every day. Her response? “I tell anyone thinking about event planning that you will either love it or hate it, there is no in-between.  If you love it you are crazy (and I love it so I am crazy) but it’s very rewarding.  No matter the event, and we do everything from business meetings to weddings, I want every detail to be perfect and each member and guest to have a great time.  I am so blessed to have an amazing staff here at the club that understands our vision and works to produce it every day.” Well…we love the floral event business so maybe we’re crazy too? No comment.

OKC Golf and Country Club

All of the events hosted at the club are great but one of our favorite times to be there? Christmas! Have you ever seen their 30 foot tree? It is spectacular! Team Fleuriste found out that OKCGCC has a farmer in Colorado who they use specifically for their Christmas trees. The pre-selected tree arrives at 6:30 a.m., the Sunday after the Beaux Arts Ball, and the next two days are spent decorating it. If you haven’t seen this gorgeous sight for yourself, make it a priority this December!

Thank you Tracy and the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for letting Team Fleuriste show you off today. We’re eagerly awaiting the end of the day so we can finish the week like Tracy does…by kicking off the heels and having a glass of wine. Cheers!

Modern Elegance

Contemporary, sleek, modern and elegant…these are just a few adjectives that accurately describe today’s #WeddingWednesday feature! Morgan and Omar are total trendsetters and it showed in their wedding style. Team Fleuriste loved getting to step up our creative game for this stylish couple!

Morgan & Omar | The Fleuriste

Our friends at Eventures { remember meeting them? } completely transformed Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club with drapery lined walls and set the bar high with their production design so we had to bring it with the floral design!

The head table was a total show-stopper of white phalaenopsis orchids and greenery suspended over a glass tabletop lined with white calla lilies! Acrylic tubing set the frame for this gravity-defying floral design. Lets also take a moment to acknowledge the glam factor that the combination of gold, white and glass/acrylic created! Simply stunning.

Gold tree stumps were used to create the base of the head table as well as the cake table. Amy Cakes did a fantastic job with this one-of-a-kind cake, which we accented with more white phalaenopsis orchids.

The bride’s bouquet was a stunning display of white vanda orchids { vanda orchids are a very rare flower that Team Fleuriste loves to use when given the chance! }. Omar presented the bouquet to Morgan before the ceremony, honoring a tradition of the groom giving his bride one last gift before they marry.

Morgan & Omar | The Fleuriste

The escort card “table” was actually a tree accented with even more white phalaenopsis orchids around the base. The leaves falling from the tree had the guest names and table numbers written on them. Is this incredible or what?! We loved creating it, along with all of the other incredible floral elements, for Morgan and Omar. Of course, we’ve only highlighted a few of those details here so you’ll definitely want to see them all by clicking HERE!

Cheers to Morgan & Omar! Here’s to a lifetime of modern elegance!

{ Team Fleuriste Loves } Kate Spade

Team Fleuriste has a lot of favorites that inspire us and we love to share them with you! In today’s edition, we’re talking all about Kate Spade. The colorful and playful designs of this lifestyle brand are always on-point. Have you seen the new home decor line? Total perfection! They also have an incredible selection of items that are the perfect gifts to give and/or receive! { Sometimes you need to give yourself a gift, too }

Our love for the brand and our love for parties collided when we worked with Whitney Fusion on a party at V2 at Vast! The theme was Kate Spade so we had a blast creating the perfect floral designs for this stunning evening. Every detail was thought out, like the gold dots on the backs of the acrylic chairs and polka-dot wrapped green napkins! { Feature Friday } Ashley!

We’re continuing our Feature Friday blog series today with the person who keeps the party rolling and the brides calm! That’s right, today you’re meeting Team Fleuriste’s Event Manager, Ashley. She’s the one behind the scenes making sure the i’s are dotted and the t’s are crossed all while wearing a smile on her face and high heels on her feet! We could tell you loads more about this Queen of Fun but we’ll let her take it from here…

Ashley | The Fleuriste

Are you a morning person or a night person? Night! If you see me out of bed before 8:00 am, it probably took multiple alarms and a lot of dry shampoo! { Team Fleuriste side note: we are huge fans of the DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo! Try it – you won’t regret it! }

What is your favorite part of your job? Working with the clients!

What does a typical day for an Event Manager look like? Well, each day is ALWAYS different. But there is always a mix of meeting with clients, working in my office surrounded by paperwork or completing projects for upcoming weddings and events. Now event days…that’s a totally different story!

What does event day look like for an Event Manager? In the morning, I’ll check on the team to see how production is going and make sure we are still on schedule. I’ll go over the event file and the production list for about the millionth time to insure we aren’t forgetting anything. Once I arrive to the venue, I’m usually running around multi-tasking by directing the crew, making sure all items are being placed in the proper location, coordinating with the other vendors on site, helping the client with last minute details and adding support as a back-up for the team. After the event is over, I’ll help take it all down at the end of the night!

You work with clients on so many different floral designs. Do you have a favorite? I don’t have a favorite {I’m attached to all of them!} but I do love when we can create floral chandeliers – they make such a memorable moment at an event!

What is your favorite flower? I have a few but right now I love Ranunculus…I am definitely a high petal count kind of girl!

You’re given a choice of one TV show to binge on Netflix while eating one meal – what is that show and what is that meal? Give me any funny sitcom and does french fries with a side of fresh fruit count as a meal? (No cantaloupe though! I strongly believe it is the “filler flower/carnation in the fruit world.)

Word on the street is you’re a pretty stealthy online shopper – what is your favorite site to shop? Ill admit I MIGHT have a small online shopping obsession but I love that are so many options and no crowds to fight! I don’t really have a favorite place to shop – I typically stalk a couple of blogs to see what the latest and greatest is and go from there.

And finally, the most important question: what is your favorite emoji? 💁🏼 { Team Fleuriste side note: the blonde girl hair flip is a fave of all of the blondes here! }

Would you love for Ashley to help you with your upcoming wedding or event? Call us { 405.843.8700 } or email us { hello@thefleuriste.com }! Until next time…Bye, Felicia!
